While cruising the beach, Wagner and I meet some Israeli surfers. They want to get tubed at the Pipeline. I ask them about surf in Israel and they both kind of frown. "You know, there's not much of it on the Mediterranean Sea."

Wagner eagle eyes some surf stars.

One of them is Shane Dorian! Currently ranked #4 in the world, Dorian had just won the Rip Curl World Cup of Surfing. He's also known for his acting role in 1998's surf epic, "In God's Hands." Referring to Wagner, Shane asks, "Did you make it?" Once again, Wagner and I are starstruck.

With the day's surfing almost over, the top wildcard finalists have been chosen (from left to right): Fred Patachia, Bruce Irons, Love Hodel, and Braden Dias. Pipe Masters is the only WCT contest on the circuit where trials are held to determine two wildcards who will advance into the main event. It's a chance for unranked surfers to compete against the pros. Bruce and Braden make the cut.

After we watch Shane Dorian win his heat in the main event, Pipe Masters ends for the day. We couldn't stick around for the entire show, but here are the final results [Link dead, sorry!]. Moondoggy and I had to get back to our own island...
