Earlier, I'd asked Kathy & Griffith whether Texans considered Texas part of the South. They said no. But the video, in the course of commenting on the great strides in embalming made during the Civil War, used the names "the North-South conflict," or "the War Between the States." Oh, I'm in the South, all right. Remember that cartoon--I think it was Peabody and Sherman--where every time one of them says "Civil War," that General Beauregard something-or-other character yells out, "Wo-ah Buh-tween th' States!"? And speaking of cartoons, the people watching the video with us make me feel like I'm guesting on King of the Hill: a "licensed cosmetician" who seems suspiciously interested in the requirements for becoming a funeral makeup artist (somewhere Evelyn Waugh is smiling), and a morbid but pleasant middle-aged Texas couple (who, coincidentally, have come to the museum at the prompting of Kathy's article about the place on Houston Sidewalk.)
