"Carl Clapp painted the initial portraits in the Hall of Fame. Carl, a Casa
Grande cotton farmer, grew up in Willcox. As a boy, he kept his artistic
talents hidden as in those years artists were considered `sissies.' In his
opinion art and farming mix well. Farmers have the most critical eye for color
of anyone."
