I'm not sure this town is as unimaginative as just lazy: Norlina, North Carolina.
Who is to blame
Says Ryan:
Nobody can say for sure but it is pronounced like a contraction for North Carolina, also it's near the NC-Virginia line.
I have to say, though: for an Unimaginatively Named City, it does have a certain flair.
