| There was Texas BBQ, from a VW converted into a pit. (I had a VW that did this once. But I wasn't happy about it--I was in the California desert near Indio.) Before the parade, a couple of cops, seeing the smoke and the blackened shell of the BBQ VW (which was being towed behind a Winnie) began poking around and asking each other, "Whoa! What happened here?!?" until I clued them in to its culinary status. That was a strangely satisfying thing to witness. |
