Across from our hotel on Geary was a theater running a play featuring the legendary Ute Hagen.

We did stay at another hotel the first night, where the clerk offered us a choice of rooms, on opposite sides of the hotel. "What would you pick?" I asked her. "Another hotel maybe," was her confidence-inspiring answer.
