Salvation Mountain / Salton Sea

Here's the message board at Slab City, a strange temporary settlement built on the concrete foundation slabs of an abandoned military base. Both board and bike reminded me of Burning Man. (So much so that I had to plaster the board with plenty of cardhouse.com popsicle stix.)
At a Slab City yard sale I found some good books, including The Rebel, by Albert Camus, which I buy whenever I see. (Coincidentally, I'd just picked up a copy the previous weekend in Tucson, which I distributed in the direction of former Planeteer Laura B.)
Here's what Slab City looks like from atop Salvation Mountain.
