Back to yer olden D.o.C.

Notebook-fari

I'm technically without a home these days, so I got a 1987 Xplorer Xtravan. It's pretty swank, for a guy like me.

For the foreseeable future, I'll be living in this van, as I mentioned before, wandering homelessly about the country on various adventures and errant errands. The first of these is to finish up my upcoming book about the Mojave Phone Booth.

However, my current computer is moribund. I need a replacement so I can finish the Booth Book. So I am now on Notebook-fari, and I need the help of 18 people to obtain one for free.

If you'd like to help:

Click this link for me. It will take you to Notebooks4Free. Sign up for one of the trial offers (Blockbuster, BMG, whichever looks useful, tolerable, or like it will be the most for the least). When your Rebate Status (on the Check Status page) is verified, you will be counted as one of the 18 (that's half of an ad hoc force of Lamed-vavniks), and will thereby have helped me out greatly.

(After that, if you can get 18 people to sign up on your behalf, you can get a notebook, too.)

It does sound scam-like, but here's some other reading on Notebooks4Free & this type of offer in general:

Seems legit; if, however, I were to get stiffed on the notebook, you can bet there would be fun to be had with that here at the old D.o.C.
