Ordinarily, when I flip open a non-mathematical book only to find tables and charts and other attempts at the quantification of knowledge, I immediately set that book down again, knowing it is unlikely to tell me much of value about human affairs.

There are some tables and figures and such in Odd Jobs.

Just for a change, I think that this time I will not let sociology stop me from enjoying what is clearly a most worthwhile book.
