the mayor
This is Brett, the self-proclaimed mayor of Waikiki. Wagner was immediately drawn to his elaborate beach setup. Those are Bose speakers mounted to his chair! Brett has a bit of a following, and comes out to his spot on the beach almost every day. People kind of gather around his beach broadcast. I asked Brett what he was playing, and he made me guess. "Only a music insider would recognize this!" It turned out to be a solo project by one of the Davids from the 1980's group, "David & David." I had guessed Don Henley. Wagner didn't really care for David's solo work. Neither did I. Brett sure could juggle though. Wagner says, "Gute Handgelenkarbeit ist sein größter Vorzug."
a valuable
Look who Wagner's attracted. This is Richard. He's one of a bunch of metal detector guys who comb Waikiki for valuables. Unlike some of his competitors, Richard doesn't wear what he uncovers 'cause he considers it bad form. Last month, he found a ruby ring appraised at $15,000. Yup, there's money in Waikiki, or at least jewelry. Check out the silver fox in the background.
girls!
Wagner happily meets some local wahine. Despite the smiles, he was to receive a very tepid response... "Wow, it's different."

And then someone recognized Wagner! It was Kenth from Sweden. Kenth was wearing this cool Malachite necklace, and appeared to be doing some homework on the beach. Unfortunately, Kenth was less interested in Wagner and more interested in The Mojave Phone Booth. This did not go over well with the maestro. Maybe that's why his photo with Kenth didn't turn out. Sorry Kenth, I hope all your exams went well.

rice mat is not enough
The beach scene has tired Wagner. It's time for sophisticated music and some long, tall tropical drinks!
